collects when you use chrishaircut.com — including booking an appointment, creating
an account, or leaving a review — how we use it, and the choices you have.
By using this site, you agree to the practices described below.
Information We Collect
We collect the following information depending on how you use the site:
- Booking information: name, phone number, email address, service selected, appointment date/time, and any notes you provide when scheduling an appointment. This applies whether you book online yourself, or Chris enters an appointment on your behalf after you book by phone, text, or in person.
- Guest booking linking: if you book without signing in using an email address that matches an existing account, we automatically link that booking to your account so it appears in your booking history — you don't need to be logged in for this to happen.
- Account information (optional): if you create an account, we store your name, email address, phone number, and a securely hashed password. We never store your password in plain text.
- Review content (optional): if you leave a review, we store your star rating, written comment, and any photo you choose to upload. If approved, this content — including your name — is displayed publicly. See "Public Display of Reviews" below.
- Payment tracking: for completed appointments, we may record the amount paid for internal bookkeeping purposes. We do not process or store credit card information directly — no payment card data touches our servers.
- Technical information: like most websites, our server may briefly process your IP address for security purposes, such as detecting and limiting automated abuse of our booking system. We do not use this to build a profile of you, and we do not use cookies or third-party trackers for advertising or analytics.
How We Use Your Information

- To check real-time availability against our calendar
- To let you view your appointment history and leave reviews if you create an account
- To automatically link a guest booking to your account if you book using the same email address, so your history stays in one place
- To improve our services based on feedback left in reviews
- To detect, prevent, and respond to abuse or security issues affecting the site
Public Display of Reviews
Reviews that Chris approves are shown publicly on the homepage of this site. A published
review displays your name (as it appears on your account), your star rating, your written
comment (if any), and any photo you chose to upload. Any photo you upload is automatically
resized and stripped of hidden metadata, such as GPS location data, before it's stored.
You can delete any review you've posted at any time from your account, which removes it
from public view.
Third-Party Services We Use
We rely on a small number of trusted third-party services to operate the site:
- Google Calendar API: used to check availability and create calendar events for confirmed appointments. Your name, phone number, email, and any notes you provide may appear in an internal calendar event, which is only visible to us.
- Gmail (Google): used to send you booking confirmation, status update, and reminder emails.
- Google Cloud: our website and database are hosted on Google Cloud infrastructure. Google processes this data on our behalf as our hosting provider and does not use it for its own purposes.
These providers process data on our behalf and are bound by their own privacy and security practices. We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with any other third party for marketing purposes.
How We Store and Protect Your Information
- Your data is stored in a private database that we manage and secure.
- Passwords are hashed using industry-standard encryption (bcrypt) and are never stored or visible in plain text — not even to us.
- Login sessions are kept in your browser's local storage rather than as tracking cookies, and are cleared when you log out.
- All traffic to and from this site is encrypted using HTTPS/SSL.
- We limit login attempts and validate all submitted data to help protect against unauthorized access and abuse.
Your Choices and Rights
- Guest booking: you are never required to create an account to book an appointment.
- Access and update: if you have an account, you can view and update your name, email, and phone number at any time from your Account Settings.
- Delete your account: you can permanently delete your account at any time from Account Settings. This removes your login credentials and any reviews you've posted, and is irreversible. See "Data Retention" below for what happens to past appointment records.
- Delete a review: you can remove any review you've posted, including its photo, at any time from your account.
- Contact us: for any other requests regarding your data, including data you'd like removed that isn't covered above, contact us using the information below.
Data Retention
We retain booking and account information for as long as your account is active or as
needed to provide our services. If you delete your account, we remove your login
credentials and any reviews you've submitted. Appointment records tied to bookings you
made — including the name, phone number, and email address you provided at the time of
booking — may be retained after account deletion for business and tax record-keeping
purposes, even though they will no longer be linked to a user account. If you'd like
older appointment records deleted or your contact details redacted from them, contact us
using the information below and we will accommodate reasonable requests.
Children's Privacy
This site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal
information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal
information, please contact us and we will remove it.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page
with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of the site after changes are posted
constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
